KLPOA is neither strictly traditional nor obsessively innovative. We respect the work of others; this is to say tradition and typology, but we do not hold these precedents as sacred and untouchable.

We seek rather to continue the work of refining architecture for the particular constraints of today’s time and the place where we practice in the Mid-Atlantic. Indeed, our work is rooted and begins in those constraints; of the site, of materials, of the lives of our partners.
